Two firsts!

Hoooray for fall!!!  Already I've had two new firsts this fall.
#1. Shooting some guns; pistol, rifle, and shotgun

#2. Riding bikes up Alpine Loop drive

We've also eaten a hole batch of pumpkin cookies- "yum yum in my tum"- navy.  We've slack-lined in doors.  We've turned on the heat.  And we've slurped lots and lots of soup and hot chocolate; acutally, I'm the only one who drinks hot chocolate in this family, but I drink a lot of it (thanks mama for your homemade liquid love).

#1 Shooting some guns
This weekend we went out to Logan to visit Alex's freshman college buddy/ California road-trip buddy/ Thailand travel buddy Nick Hansen and his wife Cami.  Nick took us up to his family's cabin and we hung out there; me and Cami always next to the fire.  It was super fun and Nick showed us how to shoot guns.  I was kinda scared cuz i've never shot a gun but fortunately none of us shot ourselves or eachother.

Nick and Cami
can you tell I'm nervous

Alex doing the splits with a gun; superb gunman's stance.

we are all pretty hard core; you should have seen us with the shot gun!

#2 Riding bikes up Alpine Loop dr.
On Thursday afternoon we thought it would be a great idea to ride our bikes up Alpine Loop dr. starting at our house.  It's a 60 mile ride total and it from our house you go up Provo canyon, turn at Sundance, and ride up up up for 10 miles and then down down down American Fork Canyon.  The first 20 miles were great, but once we hit the 10 miles up the mountain it started to get hard.  You would be amazed how long 10 miles of continuous uphill can feel.  It was AMAZINGLY beautiful though and we loved every minute of it.  What we didn't realize was that it would be 30 degrees F at the top and that our hands would go so numb we couldn't hold the breaks!  This is a problem when you are going straight downhill for another 10 miles.  Fortunately this really really nice guy with a four door truck and a life saving heater picked us up.  He was soooo nice and took us all the way back home.  It was  a crazy adventure; and while it was super fun, I don't think we will ever try it in the fall again.  Summer is probably a better option.
my face is FROZEN that's why my smile is so awkward
SNOW!

Probably the most beautiful bike ride I've ever been on
You should have seen this in real life!
Jia yo!  you can beat that hill!

This was before it got cold; we were really cheerful at this point

We love you Provo canyon!

  3. Hey Morgan! I have GOT to be better at posting comments. I love how adventurous you and Alex are! I wish JJ and I were more like that, but i'm a pansy as a pregnant lady. How did you like shooting guns? I use to go do that ALL the time with my dad and bro's.. infact we still do! JJ never got to shoot guns, so he really looks forward to it whenever we go visit my family. Fun Stuff:)
Oh... I can't believe you guys went riding your bikes around the alpine loop! I've always thought that was a BEAUTIFUL drive... but I would never agree to biking it. hahaha.. I so commend you for taking on that challenge! I was so relieved for you when I read that someone gave you guys a lift back home :) Anyway, that was a fun post. I MISS the beautiful mountains like crazy! I'll be there next week though! WAAAAHOOO
