Another week of AMAZING adventure!!!
Monday: The temples at Angkor are AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. Seriously I think I dreamed going to that place because it was too unbelievable. The stuff of dreams, what movies try to come close to showing, totally and completely surreal. Also, anyone visiting Cambodia and starved for Indian food, we recommend New Delhi Restaurant in Siem Reap. Tasted like a dream; its been a while since we were that stuffed too. Love Alex so much.
Tuesday: Bus day! Took three different buses to get from Siem Reap, Cambodia to Pak Chong, Thailand. Destination Kao Yai National Park. Google it for pictures- insanely beautiful Monsoon forest. Made friends with a lady on the bus who shared grapes, bread, cough drops (thai's think its candy), etc. Also enjoyed the goofy Thai movies. Talk about good comedy :-). Also met a guy who makes biodiesel, cool. Love Alex so much.
Wednesday: Kao Yai National park- pure wildness!!! Rented a moto and cruised through the park. CAN THIS BE REAL!!! Lots of beautiful beautiful waterfalls. We stayed in this creepy secluded bunk house. Basically a wood box full of spiders and us. We were super creeped, especially because we were right on the edge of the noisy forest. We made it out alive, but barely. Love Alex so much.
Thursday: Unguided hike through the jungle. Totally freaked!!!! Seriously, you step in the forest and go from day to night, quite to noisy, and comfortable to panicky! There are tons and tons of animals in these woods. Wild elephants, monkeys, gibbons, tigers, porquipines, snakes, lizards, etc. We saw everything but the elephants and tigers. It was a really cool time though. We especially loved the leaches that we kept haveing to flick off our feet; cursed sucking beasts. Hitch hiked our way out of the park. People in Thailand are so so so so nice. Bus to Bangkok! Woohooo! Love Alex so much.
Friday: The pinapple here is so good! Yummmmmmmy! Street vendors with iced pinapple and chilli sugar, life doesn't get better than this. Hippy capital of the world, lady-boy capital of the world, old white guys with young asian girls capital of the world, nicest movie theatres capital of the world, this place breaks every record. The Royal Palace is amazing! Cool river taxis and markets. And, Transformers on the big screen- ahhh sigh of homeness. Love Alex so much.
Oh and I can't forget to mention. We met an old Thai guy on the bus who talked our ears off. He was telling us all sorts of stuff but the funniest was when he was sharing how he divorced his first wife (mother of his 4 kids) for a younger woman. He did it cuz her face wasn't as pretty any more. So he married a young 28 year old for 10 years and it was awesome until she left him for a younger guy. The explanation; his factory was at 35%, whereas the young guy's was at 100%; I mean really, how can you compete with that. Not sure what he meant? Ask a Thai person, they could explain it, along with ping pong. Gross, don't say that here.
Saturday: More Bangkok. We're staying in a really cool old teak house. It feels like a little boat cuz its all wood. Its tucked down this back alley and we love it. China town was fun, lovin the ni hao. Got dred locks- owwwww. I bit a whole in my journal cuz i had to bite it the whole time I was getting them. We stumbled on a buddist monkery and they were all singing their guts out for hours and never stopped. Love Alex so much.
Sunday: Church at the English speaking branch. So great! There were 32 countries represented in the ward. Blew our minds! Wanna know what else blew our minds, talking to a guy living in Bankok, that looks Chinese, speaking like a Bostonian. Wow. Love Alex so much.
